An Introit to a New Beginning: IFPI to Kick-off “The Official Philippines Chart Launch Party” in Partnership with PRM

The Official Philippines Chart has arrived! 

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), in partnership with Philippines Recorded Music Rights Inc. (PRM) will present The Official Philippines Chart Launch Party, recognizing the most streamed local songs and performers of the last calendar year, from January 1 to December 31, 2024.

The IFPI is an organization that represents the global recording industry and serves as its voice worldwide, by promoting the economic value of sound-recorded music, protecting the intellectual property (IP) rights of music creators, handling legal music policy, conducting global data analysis of the music industry, including global charts and certifications, and partnering with collective management organizations (CMOs) around the world to strengthen the fight for proper music licensing. In line with its principle of partnership, IFPI is partnering with PRM for the event, with the local CMO serving as their arm in the Philippines, having already assisted them in launching the weekly Official Philippines Chart last January 23rd, 2025, alongside the Official Southeast Asian Charts.

In previous years, the IFPI has awarded international artists such as Taylor Swift, BTS, and Drake for being some of the most globally streamed artists in the industry, and this upcoming Chart Launch will bring the same prestige to the Philippine music scene, awarding the country’s most streamed songs and performers of the past year based on data gathered by IFPI from all major music streaming platforms, specifically Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Deezer. A total of 20 awards will be given throughout the night, notably the awards for the Local Artist of the Year and Local Song of the Year 2024. True to the spirit of music being at the center of the night and celebrating the Philippine music industry, the event will also feature performances from artists of various record labels such as BINI, TJ Monterde, ONE CLICK STRAIGHT, dwta (pronounced as ‘Diwata), SUYEN, XYVRL, and Nior, representing the rich variety of soundscapes Original Pilipino Music (OPM) has to offer.

As a whole, the Official Philippines Chart Launch will be a historic landmark for the Philippine Music scene, as the first award show wherein all awards are based on official data from global streaming music platforms. In line with the IFPI and PRM’s goals as organizations, the party will give the country’s artists the credit they’re due and further grow the industry. Additionally, the official launch of the charts will provide industry players and music fans, on a weekly basis, an accurate look into the music and artists that capture the hearts of the Filipino public.
